I went for combined school selection on Tuesday and Wednesday. Through these two days of trial, I do find some areas of mine requiring improvement if ever i wanted to get into their team, but sadly to say this is my last year i supposed. Actually, from a holistic point of view, i do learnt a lot from this experience and one of them should making friends with other softballers from other schools and, amazing our conversation is hardly going about the softball in Singapore but towards our school and the way our coaches had taught us to be, as a softballer. Nevertheless, this interaction breaks the barrier between us and get us together as a team.
One thing that i was disappointed for the selection would be the way they test our skills. In my opinion, to really brings our the talent and skills we had learnt throughout the years, we need to be tested in different sections. By allowing games as a form of selection will conceal the talent of a skilled player if the ball never go to him, when there was no tight situations for him to perform this composure and presenting himself in aplomb. I take our catcher as an example when he has the strength and ability to do really well, his luck does not bring him to that level. 4 walks for the two days trial diminished his skills and hard work during his training time. In the end, the talented not shown as a whole. I mean like what a waste!

Anyway, I received a bad news recently. As i had thought earlier, or i was happily thinking that as the first generation t receive PR guarantee me two years free from National Service was a false alarm. That faithful morning might had destroyed my dream to catch up with the age gap.
"Hello, may i speak to Mr Zheng Please?"
"Oh, Yes?"
"Hi, this is blahblah calling from Ministry of Defence"
"Uhhuh"
"We wanted to inform you that regarding the registration for NS..."
"WAIT! I thought i asked your to help me check if i need to serve NS?"
"Oh.... It says that you need to serve"
" HUH! Can you check first! Coz I'm a PR Under the scheme of Professionals, and as the first generation to become a PR, i suppose there is no need for me to serve NS?"
"Sorry, i have checked with my officer and he confirm that u need to serve NS as you are under the scheme of MIS."
" Oh SHIT! oh okay. thanks........."

The long silence left me in shocked but it's time for deferment. 既来之,则安之。船到桥头自然直。

Today, we witnessed the arrival of another zone champion after our volleyballer. As we all had expected, the return of the key players indeed played a part in clinching the title. The little failure we had actually meant to be a wake up call for those idiot(as in attitude) out there. To have a clearer sense what should be inbuilt for them in cultivating a good value, followed by a decent character.

Logic

I had a conversation with someone recently regarding good players and great players. A point of view was made then, in fact it is true that everyone can be a good player when he or she willing to make an effort enduring through the different stages of training. The trainings ranging from physical to mental by means of bringing different situation into the ground, onto the field. Face the pressure and push yourself up for the challenges and overcome the mental blocks at obstacles. For a good player, one may need just a subtle amount of difficulties in training and in a small country where we stood, it is quite guarantee you will at least be able to make it through the Average Joes, or sometimes, making it top to the peak.

Yet, why do our coach insisted us to train the extra ten percent transcend from our optimum?

Of course, you might think it is to let us have something to fall back on when your form was not at peak, there was still 100percent to take on the fight. This was a rational thinking somehow but to me, what impacted me more was training the extra ten percent was to bring out the inner strength that was hidden in the forbidden city of our body. Just like our brain which we could only use a fraction of it. It is the inner strength that brought us to the prime of our sports, at the same time, there was something more important coming alongside with it. Character, one of those most importance components of a person's composition that helped to build the value and
significance of self. A player without a good character is like a body without it's soul!

Basic habit of just conscientiously tucking shirt and not wearing ankle socks in school may counted as trivial yet there was a colossal connection to the character of the person. A simple act of a person without the surveillance of anyone best reflects the personality. Hence, there's a saying to catch you when no one is watching.

Back to life, someone asked me this question. "Who is the best friend of ongey?"
At that point of time, the world of mine freezes! I could tell you, my mind is stagnant by then, no thoughts, no clues. I'm absolutely lost. Basically, I could not find a good argument to rebate the question. As a reflect back to days when i just entered the school, everyone seen so new and distant. I did have this idea wondering if i had ended up in a wrong school though. I just could not get use to the environment fully soaked, penetrated with MALE! It was indeed quite a challenge for me to overcome that difficult times and found friends who i believed, are true to me. Being a older one, it was hard to have the same mindset of people younger than you, what i found lucky was i inherited a good pair of eyes and ears. They enabled me to observe and listen to my environment, making good judgements at different times. I could confess that my life would not be as interesting if i were to land in the mainstream. Being part of the sports class not only brought my joy of enjoying sports, also, it indulged me to my passion of running about, made my limbs work to the rate they were capable of. Besides sports, i knew i found people who truly cared and concerned about me. People who i called them friends. People who will share moments of joy and sadness with. People who you rely on other than your close kins. This is not kinship, instead it was known as a brotherhood that bonded our hearts together, regardless of our differences. What we called love, through our words and actions that touches our hearts which once kept only to ourselves.

Therefore, I could only thank for the presence of your guys who have always been the pillars of strength, the stronghold which keeps me standing, the hands that always willing to help, and the words always prepared to console, the ears always listen to every single portion of me.

Nothing, but just the link.
